Nana Kobidze and Kristof Nagy received the CEU PhD awards

Congratulations to our PhD students Nana Kobidze who received the First-Year Doctoral Students' Award and Kristof Nagy on receiving the 2024 Advanced PhD Students' Awards for their outstanding performance.

"The King of Bangkok" by Professor Claudio Sopranzetti won the ICAS Social Sciences accolade for "Best Read for the General Public" in English.

The King of Bangkok, co-authored by Professor Claudio Sopranzetti, received the International Convention of Asia Scholars (ICAS) IBP 2023 English Language Edition – Social Sciences accolade for "Best Read for the General public".

The book, an anthropological graphic novel, was also recently reviewed in the Los Angeles Review of Books.

Claudio Sopranzetti’s King of Bangkok shortlisted for the Victor Turner Prize in Ethnographic Writing.

The selection committed wrote that they praise the book for "inaugurating nothing less than a new mode of ethnographically inhabiting history. We were simply floored by the attention to local detail in every piece of art and every speech bubble. We have no doubt that this is a project that will be emulated for years to come".
